This project intends to bring women to the limelight so that they can actively engage in the promotion of human rights and security of their communities. The goal of the project is to empower coastal women and build their resilience to violent extremism and radicalization by ensuring their full involvement in countering violent extremism (CVE) initiatives.
The following are the objectives of the project:
- To empower women on how to counter violent extremism in order to build their resilience to radicalization;
- To initiate effective dialogue between women in state and non state agencies with a particular emphasis on female police, female youth and women in civil society;
- To work with female youth from hotspot areas to address issues of human rights and security as an entry point to addressing extremism and radicalization amongst their peers; and
- To forge closer working relations between female police, civil society actors and community women through undertaking joint activities at the grassroots
