International Day in support of Victims of Enforced Disappearances 2020
HAKI Africa together with Kwale Civilian Oversight Forum and other civil society organisations this year held a peaceful demonstration followed by a public vigil in Kwale to commemorate the International Day for Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
In addition, the protesters also delivered a memorandum that seeks to draw the attention of the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights in the National Assembly to the several incidents of unexplained and unresolved incidents of mysterious enforced disappearances and extra-judicial executions targeting terror suspects in the Coast region by people believed to be State security agents.
In a report documented by HAKI Africa, over 100 people have been recorded missing in the last three years. We stand firmly with families of those disappeared and assure them that theirs is not a lonely struggle and all the people of Kenya are with them to seek answers to the biggest question of our times – “WAKO WAPI?”
